Ole Miss Rifle Extends Winning Streak to Four Matches with Victory Over Ohio State

The University of Mississippi rifle team continued its winning streak Saturday, defeating Ohio State 4,746-4,721 in Columbus, Ohio. The Rebels (7-2) outscored the Buckeyes (3-7) in both smallbore and air rifle by significant margins, according to team sources.

Ole Miss has posted at least a 2,380 score in air rifle four times this season and has won four consecutive matches, its longest streak since the 2022-23 season. Audrey Gogniat led the team, finishing with an overall score of 1,189 and sweeping the individual titles in both events. She has achieved this feat four times this season.

In smallbore, Gogniat scored a match-best 592, leading by four points. She has scored at least 590 in smallbore five times this season. Gracie Dinh earned second place with a 588, while Jordan de Jesus and Susan Carter scored 585 and 576, respectively. De Jesus has finished in the top five in smallbore in three of the past four matches.

During the air rifle portion, Gogniat shot a 597, earning her the event’s gold medal and topping the overall shooter leaderboard. De Jesus turned around a rough start, hitting 43 consecutive 10s and finishing with a 596. Dinh scored 595, and Regan Diamond added a 592. Ole Miss will host Navy and Georgia Southern at a tri-team tournament on Jan. 31 in Oxford.

Ole Miss rifle coach David McClure praised the team’s performance, noting the consistency and focus as key factors in their success. The team looks to extend its winning streak in upcoming competitions.
