Ole Miss Rifle Defeats Memphis in Weekend Opener

Ole Miss rifle defeated Memphis 4,731-4,722 Saturday morning in Oxford, Miss. The victory marked the Rebels’ fifth consecutive head-to-head win and continued their strong season performance.

The Rebels, now 8-2, have scored at least 4,730 points in five matches this season—an all-time program high. They are averaging 4,729.7 points per match, also a program best, and have yet to score below 4,700 in any match this season, according to team sources.

Under head coach Will Shaner, Ole Miss achieved notable milestones. The team posted its fifth smallbore score above 2,350 and its sixth air rifle score over 2,380 this season. Audrey Gogniat led the team with a total score of 1,186, earning her fifth overall win this season and placing first among Rebels in all but two matches. Jordan de Jesus finished third with 1,185 points, narrowly missing second place by one center shot.

Gogniat and de Jesus highlighted Ole Miss’s first relay, with Regan Diamond contributing a strong start. Diamond scored 589, just one point shy of the individual top score, and was the top scorer among Rebels. De Jesus rebounded after a gun malfunction, finishing second overall. Gracie Dinh added a 587, rounding out the top scorers for the Rebels.

In the air rifle discipline, Gogniat shot a 599, continuing her streak of at least 599 points in four matches this season. De Jesus added a 597, while Dinh scored 595. Diamond contributed a 590, helping Ole Miss secure its sixth match with at least a 2,380 total in air rifle this season.
