Ole Miss Names Emma Eubank as Kid Coach to Highlight Courage and Resilience

The University of Mississippi Athletics announced Emma Eubank of Petal as this week’s Kid Coach, a partnership with Children’s of Mississippi that honors pediatric patients’ courage.

Emma, now 12, was diagnosed with epilepsy and neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) after experiencing a seizure in 2023. Her family has since managed her condition through numerous trips to the hospital and ongoing care at Children’s of Mississippi, where Emma calls the sixth floor “Disney World” because of the love she receives there, her father said.

Despite her health challenges, Emma enjoys dancing, singing in her school’s show choir, learning piano, swimming, and participating in her church’s kids’ ministry. She is supported by her service dog Clyde, who alerts her to oncoming seizures. Emma has gone two years without a major seizure and continues her treatment regimen.

Her story exemplifies resilience and positivity. The university’s partnership aims to inspire others and recognize the bravery of young patients like Emma, who faces health hurdles with courage and grace, according to organizers.

Children’s of Mississippi expressed pride in Emma’s story and encouraged others to find strength in their journeys. Emma’s family expressed gratitude toward the hospital staff for their support during difficult times.
