Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 2 Texas 4-0

The University of Mississippi men’s tennis team was defeated 4-0 by Texas on Thursday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center, according to the school’s release.

Texas, ranked second nationally and holding a 19-6 record overall with a 10-2 mark in SEC play, won the doubles point before taking three of the six singles matches. The final three singles matches went unfinished due to the outcome being decided.

Ole Miss, ranked 24th, is now 16-7 overall. In singles, No. 77 Stefano D’Agostino was tied at one set each against No. 31 Kalin Ivanovski when the match was halted. Vlado Jankanj and Noah Schlagenhauf also had unfinished matches, with Schlagenhauf leading at the time, and Jankanj trailing.

The Rebels will return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, hosting No. 48 Tennessee. The match will follow the team’s recent losses, including a 6-1 defeat at Mississippi State and a 7-0 loss to Alabama.

In doubles, the teams of Kai Milburn and Isac Strömberg and Sebastian Gorzny and Lucas Marionneau of Texas secured wins, while the Rebels’ pairing of Stefano D’Agostino and Pietro Pampanin was close to victory before the match ended. The singles matches saw Eriksson and Ojakaar of Texas defeat their opponents in straight sets, while Schlagenhauf and Jankanj’s matches remained unfinished.

Ole Miss is scheduled to face Tennessee on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, with the match streaming and live stats available, according to the university.
