Ole Miss Men’s Basketball to Play Fourth Straight Road Game at Texas Saturday

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team will embark on its fourth straight road game Saturday when it faces Texas at the Moody Center in Austin. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2, marking a rare stretch of away games for the Rebels, who have played in hostile environments in Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee this season.

Ole Miss enters the matchup with an 11-11 record overall and a 3-6 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Rebels are led by third-year head coach Chris Beard, who is in his 14th season overall with a career record of 292-133. Texas owns a 14-9 record this season and is tied for 10th in the SEC with a 5-5 conference record under head coach Sean Miller, who is in his first season in Austin.

This will be the 17th meeting between Ole Miss and Texas, with the Longhorns leading the all-time series 9-7. Texas has a 5-2 advantage in Austin. The last meeting, on Jan. 29, 2025, saw Ole Miss win 72-69 at home, thanks to a second-half rally led by Sean Pedulla, who scored 19 points.

Texas is ranked 38th in the NET rankings and 33rd in KenPom, with notable players including Dailyn Swain, who averages 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Matas Vokietaitis adds 14.9 points per game and is among the nation’s best in free throws made, with 124 on 179 attempts.

Ole Miss has been disciplined this season, averaging just 9.9 turnovers per game — the fourth-best mark in the SEC and 33rd nationally. The team has played on the road in seven of their first 10 SEC games, a rarity since the 1978-79 season when they played four straight away games. Senior guard AJ Storr has been a key contributor, averaging nearly 20 points over the last seven games, including clutch performances against ranked opponents.

The Rebels will look to continue their strong defensive play, averaging 4.5 blocks per game, led by James Scott with 25 blocks. Freshman guard Patton Pinkins scored a career-high 25 points earlier this season and has shown potential as a rising star for Ole Miss.
