Ole Miss Men’s Basketball Narrowly Loses to Kentucky in Rupp Arena

LEXINGTON, Ky. — AJ Storr scored 20 points to lead Ole Miss, but the Rebels fell short against Kentucky on Saturday morning in Rupp Arena. Ole Miss, with an 11-9 record and a 3-4 SEC mark, lost to Kentucky, which improved to 14-6 and 5-2 in conference play.

The game was tight early, with Ole Miss taking a 14-11 lead on a corner three by Zach Day at the 11:28 mark. Kentucky responded with a turnaround jumper by Jasper Johnson, who then added a transition three to put the Wildcats ahead 19-15. Kentucky extended its lead to as much as 10, 29-19, before Ole Miss rallied to cut the deficit to 29-23 at halftime.

After the break, Kentucky built a 37-29 lead. Ole Miss countered with a 9-2 run, highlighted by a game-tying three from Patton Pinkins with 13:51 remaining. The game remained competitive, with Storr’s fast-break dunk bringing the Rebels within one point late in the second half. Kentucky held onto its lead in the closing minutes, ultimately winning 72-63.

Storr finished with 20 points, while Malik Dia added 16 for Ole Miss. Corey Chest pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds. The Rebels will host Vanderbilt on Jan. 31 in their next game, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the SJB Pavilion, broadcast on the SEC Network.
