Ole Miss men’s basketball heads to Auburn for final road game of regular season
The Ole Miss men’s basketball team is set to travel to Auburn, Alabama, for its final regular-season road game against the Tigers on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
Ole Miss enters the contest with an 11-17 record overall and a 3-12 mark in SEC play. Head coach Chris Beard, in his third season, leads the Rebels. Auburn, under first-year head coach Steven Pearl, holds a 15-13 record overall and a 6-9 conference record.
The series between the two programs favors Auburn, which leads 87-64 in 151 meetings. The Tigers have won four straight against Ole Miss and hold a 57-17 advantage in Auburn. Their last matchup took place on Jan. 20, when Auburn defeated Ole Miss 78-66 in Oxford. Auburn’s Keyshawn Hall scored 19 points in that game, while Ole Miss’s AJ Storr added 18.
Auburn is currently 11th in the SEC standings and is considered one of the last teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament, with a NET ranking of 35 and a KenPom ranking of 37. Keyshawn Hall, a transfer from UCF, leads the Tigers offensively with an average of 20.8 points per game and is known for his free-throw shooting, making 86.2% of his attempts.
Ole Miss has shown strong discipline this season, averaging just 9.5 turnovers per game, ranking 21st nationally and second in the SEC. Senior guard AJ Storr has been a key contributor off the bench, averaging 18.1 points over the last 14 games, including six 20-point efforts. The Rebels also rank third in the SEC in bench scoring, averaging over 30 points per game.
The game marks Ole Miss’s last road contest of the regular season, as they have played in four straight away games, a feat not seen since 1978-79. The Rebels will return home for their final two SEC games before the postseason.
