Ole Miss Men’s Basketball Faces No. 25 Tennessee on the Road

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team will play its third straight away game Tuesday night when it faces No. 25 Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT, with the game broadcast on ESPN2.

Ole Miss enters the matchup with an 11-10 overall record and a 3-5 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Rebels are led by head coach Chris Beard, now in his third season. Tennessee, coached by Rick Barnes, holds a 15-6 record and is 5-3 in conference action. The Volunteers are ranked 25th in the AP Poll and have won three straight games.

The series between Ole Miss and Tennessee dates back to 1924. The Volunteers lead the all-time series 79-46, including a 45-12 advantage in Knoxville. Tennessee has won eight of the last 10 meetings, but Ole Miss upset the No. 4 Volunteers 78-76 last season on senior day in Oxford.

Last season’s victory was highlighted by a rally from Ole Miss after trailing by five at halftime. Jaemyn Brakefield scored 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting, helping the Rebels secure a notable win. Tennessee’s Jordan Gainey scored 17 points in that game.

Tennessee, ranked 25th nationally, features offensive leaders Ja’kobi Gillespie and Nate Ament, averaging 18.6 and 16.6 points per game, respectively. Ament also leads in rebounds with 6.4 per game. The team ranks in the top 25 nationally in several team statistical categories, including offensive rebounds per game and rebound margin.

Ole Miss aims to build on recent success, including notable performances from senior guard AJ Storr, who has averaged over 20 points in the past six games. The Rebels also rely on their strong defense, averaging 4.5 blocks per game, led by James Scott with 25 blocks this season.

The game will be available on ESPN2 with Karl Ravech calling the action, alongside analysts Jimmy Dykes and reporter Alyssa Lang. Radio coverage will be provided by the Ole Miss Radio Network.
