Ole Miss Guard Cotie McMahon Receives USBWA Honorable Mention All-America Honors
INDIANAPOLIS — Ole Miss women’s basketball player Cotie McMahon has been named a USBWA Honorable Mention All-American, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Tuesday, marking her seventh career All-America accolade.
McMahon, a Dayton, Ohio native, earned her third All-America honor this season. She was also selected as a USA TODAY Honorable Mention All-American and a second-team pick by The Sporting News.
Her season accolades include spots on the Cheryl Miller Final Five list, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, among 23 total honors. McMahon was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned first-team All-SEC honors.
In her only season at Ole Miss, McMahon has been a dominant force. She averages 19.9 points on 45.1% shooting, along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 30.5 minutes per game. During SEC play, she increased her averages to 21.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
With 675 points so far, McMahon has scored the fifth-most points in a single season by a Rebel. She has scored 20 or more points in 19 games, tying Bianca Thomas for the second-most such performances in program history.
Ole Miss, seeded fifth in the NCAA Tournament, will face 12th seed Gonzaga in Minneapolis on March 20 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
