Ole Miss Guard Cotie McMahon Named USBWA National Player of the Week
Ole Miss women’s basketball player Cotie McMahon was named a National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday. This marks her third weekly honor from the USBWA, with previous awards earned at her former school.
McMahon’s top performance came against Missouri, where she scored 33 points and added 12 rebounds in a double-double effort. Her 33 points tied her career high and made her the first Rebel to reach 30 points this season. She also contributed five assists and two blocks in the game.
The sophomore’s offensive production was concentrated in the second half, where she scored 24 of her points while shooting 9-for-13 from the field. She leads the SEC and ranks fourth nationally in points per game and tops the conference in rebounds per game. McMahon has scored in double figures in 20 of 21 games this season, with 11 games exceeding 20 points.
Her success often correlates with team wins, as she has recorded four double-doubles this season, with teammates also reaching double figures in those games. McMahon and the Rebels are preparing to face Vanderbilt in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. Tickets for the upcoming season are on sale at OleMissTix.com.
