Ole Miss Falls to LSU in Double OT Thriller
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s basketball fell to LSU 106-99 in a double overtime game Wednesday night at the SJB Pavilion. The Rebels (11-17, 3-12 SEC) battled through regulation and two extra periods but ultimately couldn’t secure the win against the Tigers (15-13, 3-12 SEC).
The game was tightly contested from the start. Ole Miss took an early lead with a second-chance layup from Patton Pinkins 21 seconds into the game. Neither team led by more than a few points early on, with the score tied at 21-21 at the 9:09 mark of the first half. LSU’s Pablo Tamba put the Tigers ahead 38-36 with a layup at 2:40 before Ole Miss regained the lead before halftime, 42-41, after a layup by AJ Storr.
In the second half, Ole Miss built a seven-point lead, 50-43, thanks to a three-pointer from Eduardo Klafke. The Rebels maintained their advantage for over 16 minutes until LSU’s Michael Nwoko tied the game at 80-80 with a midrange jumper. Corey Chest then made an alley-oop dunk to give Ole Miss an 82-80 lead with 1:13 remaining. LSU responded by making both free throws on its final possession, sending the game into overtime.
The first overtime saw Ole Miss take an early 86-82 lead but LSU tied the game again with 36 seconds remaining. LSU held the lead for most of the second overtime and eventually secured the victory. Kamardine led Ole Miss with 26 points and 10 assists, his first double-double of the season. Malik Dia scored 20 points, Storr added 19, and Klafke finished with 16.
The game was the highest-scoring in SJB Pavilion history, with both teams combining for 205 points. Ole Miss will play its final home game of the season Saturday against Auburn at 7:30 p.m., televised on the SEC Network.
