Ole Miss Falls Short at Texas Despite Second Half Surge
OLYMPIA, Texas — A strong second-half rally by Ole Miss was not enough to overcome Texas on Saturday at the Moody Center. The Rebels lost 79-68 in their SEC matchup.
Ole Miss (11-12, 3-7 SEC) started the game slow, trailing by as many as 24 points in the first half. Texas (15-9, 6-5 SEC) built a 37-25 lead by halftime. The Rebels opened the second half with a 12-4 run, trimming the deficit to four points. Ole Miss took its first lead of the game on a three-pointer from Eduardo Klafke, who finished with a career-high 16 points.
The game was tied at 68-all with under three minutes remaining. However, Texas edged ahead in the final moments to seal the win. Ole Miss’s comeback efforts included key contributions from Klafke, Ilias Kamardine, and others, but it wasn’t enough to complete the rally.
Ole Miss will return home to face Alabama on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the SJB Pavilion. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network. Follow the Rebels on X, Facebook, and Instagram for updates.
Notable performances included Klafke’s 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Kamardine added 11 points, and AJ Storr tied his season best with three steals. Ole Miss shot 40.7% from the field and 29.2% from three, while Texas shot 52.9% overall and 35.7% from beyond the arc.
