Ole Miss Edges Mississippi State 4-3 in Women’s Tennis Match

OXFORD, Miss. — The Mississippi State women’s tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to No. 45 Ole Miss on Thursday evening, according to athletic communications.

The Bulldogs started strong in doubles, winning on courts one and two. The No. 20 duo of Chiara Di Genova and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz defeated No. 9 Emily Welker and Andrea Nova 6-1. Athina Pitta and Gianna Oboniye secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Riley Crowder and Alice Soulie.

In singles play, Mississippi State gained victories on courts two and six. Kempenaers-Pocz defeated Alice Soulie 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, while Mia Robinson rallied for a win on court six, beating Beatrice Stagno 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. Despite these efforts, Ole Miss claimed the final two courts to clinch the match.

Ole Miss secured the win after winning matches on courts one and three, with the final point coming on court four. Mississippi State will next face LSU on Saturday at 11 a.m., according to the team’s schedule.

Match results show Ole Miss took the doubles point and secured wins across singles courts one, three, four, five, and six, with Mississippi State winning on courts two and six. The Bulldogs will look to rebound in upcoming matches.
