Ole Miss edges Arkansas State in walk-off victory

Oxford, Miss. — Brayden Randle’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Brett Moseley, lifting Ole Miss to a 7-6 win over Arkansas State on Tuesday night at Swayze Field, according to the university’s athletics department.

Ole Miss, now 4-0, rallied from a two-run deficit to secure the victory. Randle’s game-winning hit came after Collin Reuter drew a leadoff walk and was pinch run for by Moseley. Austin Fawley then delivered a seeing-eye single through the second baseman, advancing Moseley to third before Randle’s sacrifice fly brought him home.

Reuter led Ole Miss offensively with two hits and a home run, while Fawley went 3-for-5 with a run scored. Will Furniss scored twice and reached on an error to help the Rebels’ offense. Right-hander Landon Koenig earned the win in relief, while Arkansas State’s Andrew Allen took the loss.

Ole Miss’s pitching staff combined for 4.1 scoreless innings, with Landon Koenig striking out three batters in relief. The game was tightly contested, with Arkansas State scoring three runs in the third and three more in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. The Rebels responded with two runs in the seventh and eighth to tie the game before the final ninth-inning rally.

The Rebels are scheduled to host Jackson State on Wednesday at 4 p.m. CT, with the game available on SEC Network+.
