Ole Miss’ Cotie McMahon earns third SEC Player of the Week honor

By virtue of her performance this week, Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss has received her third SEC Player of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday. McMahon’s three weekly honors this season tie her for the most in the SEC and make her the only player to earn three during conference play.

The senior is also the first Rebel to earn three SEC Player of the Week awards in a season since Armintie Price, who received four during the 2006-07 season. This marks McMahon’s 10th weekly conference honor overall. She previously won six Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards and was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 22, 2024.

McMahon had another strong week, leading Ole Miss to wins over No. 5 Vanderbilt and Auburn in Birmingham. Against Vanderbilt, she scored 27 points, added three assists, and grabbed four rebounds. Eleven of her points came from free throws, where she shot nearly perfect.

The Rebels’ wins over top-five teams this season mark only the second time in program history they have defeated two such opponents in a single season, the first being in 1995-96. Against Auburn, McMahon scored 20 points, tallied seven rebounds and two steals. She has 13 games with more than 20 points this season, tying her for 11th-most in school history for a single season.

Ole Miss is now 19-4, its best start in the era of coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin. McMahon’s performance has been pivotal to the team’s success, which includes notable victories over top-five teams this season.

Mississippi State’s Madison Francis also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Single-game tickets for the 2025-26 season are available now via OleMissTix.com. Follow the Rebels on X, Facebook, and Instagram for updates, or follow coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin on X at @YolettMcCuin.
