Ole Miss Baseball Opens 9-0 Start for First Time Since 2022

Ole Miss baseball extended its winning streak to nine games with a 13-3 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday at Swayze Field. The Rebels’ 9-0 start is their best since 2022, according to team records.

Will Furniss delivered a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, his first of the season and the 25th of his career at Ole Miss. Furniss went 2-for-4 with a double, scored three runs, and drove in three. The home run ended the game early via the run rule.

Ole Miss scored at least 10 runs in five of its nine games this season. Tristan Bissetta led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort, including two RBIs. Collin Reuter and Topher Jones each had two hits and one RBI, with Jones recording his first RBI as a Rebel.

The Rebels responded quickly after SEMO scored in the first inning, scoring three runs in the bottom half. Reuter and Bissetta contributed to the rally, with Reuter extending his hitting streak to four games.

Relief pitcher Owen Kelly earned the win, working 2.2 innings and preventing any runs. The team’s bullpen combined for three innings, allowing only one run as Ole Miss maintained its lead. In the seventh, Furniss’s home run to left field capped the victory.

Ole Miss will travel to Houston for the BRUCE BOLT College Classic, facing Baylor, Ohio State, and Coastal Carolina this weekend. Their first game is scheduled for Friday at 3:05 p.m. CT against Baylor.
