Ole Miss Baseball Honors Pediatric Patient as Kid Coach

The University of Mississippi baseball team has partnered with Children’s of Mississippi to honor pediatric patients through a program called Kid Coach. This week’s honoree is Parker Ingram, an 8-year-old from Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Ingram was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor shortly after his second birthday. He received 10 months of chemotherapy and a month of proton radiation therapy at the Children’s of Mississippi Cancer Clinic. He has been in remission since 2020 and continues to see specialists in oncology, urology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, and physical therapy.

Despite his health challenges, Ingram has developed a passion for sports. He scored two runs last season in coach-pitch baseball and keeps track of football and basketball games, especially Ole Miss contests. His favorite activity is attending Ole Miss games, where he is cheered on by the team and staff.

The partnership aims to highlight the courage of children like Ingram. The university’s athletics department expressed support, wishing him fun at Saturday’s game and noting that the team is cheering for him.
