Ole Miss Baseball Falls to No. 7 Southern Miss in Ninth-Inning Thriller

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball (15-3) suffered a 2-1 loss to No. 7 Southern Miss (15-2) Tuesday night, with the Golden Eagles scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. The game was tightly contested, with both teams combining for only three hits.

Ole Miss starting pitcher Taylor Rabe pitched 2.2 hitless innings, retiring all eight batters he faced. The Rebels scored their only run on a solo home run by Tristan Bissetta in the fifth inning. Southern Miss responded with a solo shot of their own in the same inning to tie the game.

Southern Miss’s Tucker Stockman delivered the game-winning hit in the ninth, lining a ball to right-center to bring home the runner from second. Ole Miss pitcher Camden Clark (3-0) was credited with the loss. The Rebels’ defense also turned three double plays to keep the game close.

Ole Miss will open SEC play this weekend in Austin, Texas, against No. 2 Texas. The team will look to rebound from this narrow defeat as they continue their season.
