Ole Miss Baseball Faces Memphis in Midweek Road Game
Ole Miss, ranked 18th nationally, will play Memphis in a midweek matchup Tuesday at FedExPark in Memphis. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Rebels enter the game with a 19-6 record, including a 3-3 mark in SEC play. They are coming off a 3-1 week, which included wins over Austin Peay and Kentucky. Senior Tristan Bissetta leads Ole Miss with 14 home runs and 38 RBIs, tying him for the SEC lead in RBIs. Bissetta set a program record by reaching 13 home runs in just 23 games.
Ole Miss pitcher Hunter Elliott has struck out 44 batters this season and ranks 12th in the SEC in strikeouts. The team’s pitching staff has recorded 293 strikeouts, second in the SEC and fourth nationally. The Rebels also have two shutouts this season, against Ohio State and Kentucky.
Memphis, coached by Matt Riser in his third season, holds a 6-16 record. The Tigers recently lost two of three games to Tulane and have struggled offensively, with 40 home runs allowed this season. Memphis defeated Little Rock 24-5 earlier this month but lost their most recent series.
This will be the second meeting between Ole Miss and Memphis this season. Ole Miss won the first matchup 7-1 earlier this month, with Judd Utermark hitting two home runs and driving in five RBIs. Memphis’s Shane Cox leads the team offensively with 31 hits and two home runs.
Ole Miss also has two players, Dylan DeLucia and Josh Mallitz, who participated in the recent World Baseball Classic. DeLucia pitched for Team Italy, working 7.2 innings with an 8-strikeout total, while Mallitz appeared for Team Israel.
Ole Miss will continue its schedule with home games against Mississippi State this weekend, with the projected starting pitchers including Owen Kelly for Ole Miss and Logan Rushing for Memphis.
