Ole Miss Baseball Dominates Jackson State 18-3

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball opened its season with an emphatic 18-3 victory over Jackson State on Wednesday evening, extending its winning streak to five games.

Tristan Bissetta and Judd Utermark each hit two home runs, helping the Rebels set a team record with 10 home runs through their first five games. Bissetta’s two homers came in the third inning, making him the first Rebel since Nick Fortes in 2017 to hit two home runs in the same inning, according to Ole Miss officials.

Freshman Cannon Goldin recorded two hits in his collegiate debut. Sophomore right-hander Terry Hayes Jr. earned his first start, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out four batters. Utermark contributed with a grand slam in the third inning, which traveled 397 feet into left-center field.

The Rebels jumped out early, scoring nine runs in the third inning. Bissetta’s first home run of the day ignited the rally, followed by RBI singles from Tate Sirmans and Brayden Randle. Ole Miss added six more runs in the sixth inning, sealing the victory.

Ole Miss’s bullpen combined for four innings of relief, with Owen Hancock earning the win. Jackson State’s Trae Burton took the loss. The Rebels return to Swayze Field for a three-game series against Missouri State, beginning Friday at 4 p.m. CT, with all games streamed on SECN+.
