Northwest Mississippi’s Demetrius Duffy earns MACCC Player of the Week honors
Senatobia, Miss. — Demetrius Duffy of Northwest Mississippi Community College has been named MACCC Player of the Week, the first Ranger to earn the honor since Isaiah Gaines in January 2022.
The freshman forward helped lead the Rangers to a 2-1 record last week, with wins over Meridian and Northeast Mississippi. Duffy recorded three double-doubles during the week.
He opened with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 99-93 victory over Meridian. Against No. 19 Jones College, he scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half and added 15 rebounds. Duffy also tallied 19 points and 19 rebounds in a win over Northeast Mississippi, the Rangers’ first over the Tigers since 2020.
On the season, Duffy averages 15.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He shoots nearly 64% from the field and converts almost 70% of free throws, according to team statistics.
The Tupelo native stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and is considered a key player for Northwest Mississippi this season.
