Northwest Mississippi Tennis Teams Split Matches Against Bevill State

The Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s tennis team defeated Bevill State 8-1 on Wednesday at Snowden Grove Tennis Center in Southaven. The women’s team won all three doubles matches before sweeping through the singles courts, losing only one match and conceding fewer than three games in four of six singles matches, according to sources.

Freshmen Brooke Kicker and Ava McCain highlighted the women’s doubles with a 9-7 victory, which proved pivotal in maintaining their lead. The women’s standout performances included straight-set wins from players such as Claudia Lopez Chaparro and Laura Cámara Blanco.

The men’s tennis team, however, fell 6-3 to Bevill State. They managed to secure three victories, including one doubles win by Jordan Mitchell and Holden Cooke, and singles wins from Cooke and Mitchell on the fourth and fifth courts. The men’s highlight was dominant wins on the singles courts from players like Cooke and Mitchell.

Northwest will face Copiah-Lincoln in the regular-season finale on Friday at the Co-Lin Tennis Complex in Wesson.
