No. 9 Mississippi State Hosts Tennessee in Final Game of Homestand
Mississippi State, ranked No. 9 nationally, concludes an eight-game homestand with a three-game Southeastern Conference series against Tennessee this weekend at Dudy Noble Field. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., with subsequent games Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. All contests will stream on SEC Network+.
The Bulldogs enter the series with a 26-7 record overall and a 7-5 mark in SEC play. They have won seven of their last 10 games and hold a 19-3 record at home, where they attract an average of 11,458 fans per game. The team recently lost a series to Georgia but rebounded with a midweek win over UAB, setting the stage for the Tennessee matchup.
Tennessee, with a 21-12 record and a 4-8 conference mark, will look to challenge Mississippi State’s strong pitching staff. The Volunteers are led by right-hander Landon Mack, who is expected to start Friday. The series features a matchup between two capable lineups, with MSU hitting .327 with 54 home runs and Tennessee hitting .264 with 53 home runs.
Mississippi State’s pitching staff is anchored by sophomore left-hander Tomas Valincius, who has a 6-1 record with a 1.15 ERA and 66 strikeouts. The Bulldogs also plan to start right-hander Duke Stone and lefty Charlie Foster in the following games. The staff maintains a 3.40 ERA with 377 strikeouts and opponents batting .216 against them.
Series tickets start at $20, and fans can follow the action online through live stats and streaming. The Bulldogs seek to break an eight-game losing streak against Tennessee, a series they last won in 2018, and continue their push toward postseason success.
