No. 6 Mississippi College Women’s Tennis Continues Unbeaten Streak with 7-0 Win Over Delta State

The No. 6 Mississippi College women’s tennis team extended its undefeated streak Tuesday, defeating Delta State 7-0 at the MC Tennis Complex. The Lady Choctaws now stand at 14-0 overall and 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

Mississippi College quickly took control by securing the doubles point with convincing wins at the top two positions. Emily Buchanan and Ann Cabot Stockett won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Rune Van Wyk and Katharina Weber matched that score at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady Choctaws carried the momentum into singles competition, sweeping all six courts in straight sets. Buchanan opened with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Rocio Martinez followed with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2, and Weber added a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3.

Van Wyk fought through the most competitive match of the day, rallying from a set down to win 6-1, 6-7 (8-10), 1-0 (10-6) at No. 4 singles. Anna Hudson secured the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and Stockett closed out with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 6.

Mississippi College remains the only undefeated team in the nation this season and has won 14 consecutive matches, including a perfect 6-0 at home. The Lady Choctaws will continue their schedule with three upcoming road matches this weekend, starting Saturday at Montevallo at 10 a.m. CT, followed by games against Auburn Montgomery and Tuskegee in Montgomery, Alabama.
