MUW Softball Sweeps Principia to Remain Perfect in SLIAC

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi University for Women’s softball team remained undefeated in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after sweeping Principia College in a doubleheader at Don Usher Field. The Owls won 9-1 and 16-1 in five-inning games.

In the first game, MUW scored three runs in the second inning and five in the fourth to secure the victory. Lynnzie Kennedy drove in two runs, including a sacrifice fly, while Gillion Eaves contributed three hits and two RBIs. The Owls built an 8-1 lead and finished the game with a walk-off single from Eaves, ending it via the run rule. Rachel Etheridge pitched all five innings, giving up six hits and one unearned run while striking out two.

In the second game, MUW’s offense continued to dominate, collecting 16 hits and drawing 10 walks. The Owls scored eight runs in the first inning and added three more in the second, with Eaves and Crawford each recording multiple hits. Addison Owen earned the win in the circle, allowing five hits and one run over five innings, striking out two. Eaves went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs, while Crawford also had two hits and three RBIs.

The Owls improved to 9-10 overall and 4-0 in the SLIAC, while Principia dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
