Mobile University baseball sweeps Blue Mountain in doubleheader

The University of Mobile Rams won both games of a doubleheader against Blue Mountain Christian on Friday in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile took game one 12-2 in seven innings and secured the nightcap 12-6 over nine innings, according to team sources.

In the first game, Blue Mountain scored first in the third inning when Ross Polizzi drove in Gavin Foley with an RBI single. Mobile responded with a five-run inning to take control. The Rams added four runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to extend their lead. Blue Mountain finished with five hits, with Polizzi, Foley, Yaidel Perez, Trace Roy, and Cody Presley recording hits. Jake Meilstrup contributed an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

The Toppers showed more offensive consistency in the second game, scoring six runs with contributions from multiple players, including Presley, Perez, and Foley. Despite their efforts, Mobile used several multi-run innings to maintain separation on the scoreboard. Both teams continued to battle throughout the nine-inning contest, with several Toppers earning RBIs.

Blue Mountain Christian will look to rebound in the series finale scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, as they aim to close the three-game SSAC series against Mobile. The teams will meet again at that time for the final game of the series.
