Mississippi Valley State Women Set Multiple Personal Records at SWAC Indoor Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mississippi Valley State University’s women’s track and field team recorded three personal bests on the first day of the 2026 SWAC Indoor Championships at Birmingham CrossPlex, according to team results released Saturday.
Jamison Ware led the Devilettes with the top finish among the PR setters, placing 17th in the mile run with a time of 6:23.35, a new personal record. Nyla Snead improved her time in the 60-meter hurdles, lowering her mark to 9.54 seconds. Jaazaniah Calvert also achieved a personal best in the long jump, clearing 4.45 meters.
Senior Aniyah Thomas, while not setting a personal record, posted the top overall finish among MVSU competitors in the weight throw, landing inside the top 15 with a mark of 13.39 meters.
Mississippi Valley State finished the day with no team points but is scheduled to compete again Sunday, aiming to score points and advance its outdoor season.
