Mississippi Valley State Softball Drops Both Games at Skyhawk Invitational

Mississippi Valley State University’s softball team lost both of its games Friday at the Skyhawk Invitational in Martin, Tennessee. The Devilettes were defeated 16-0 by Tennessee-Martin and 14-0 by Saint Louis, both in five innings.

The Devilettes, now 0-3 overall, faced the Skyhawks, who improved to 6-2, and the Billikens, now 5-4. Mississippi Valley has yet to record a win in the early season. The program’s last victory was on Feb. 25, 2022, against the same Tennessee-Martin team.

In Game 1, Michelle Diaz and Taniya Partee each went 1-for-2 at the plate. Devyn Dotson drew a walk, boosting her on-base percentage. In Game 2, Dotson recorded a single and allowed only four earned runs in four innings on the mound. Taylor Fuller, Hailey Akers, and Partee each contributed singles in the second game.

The final game of the Skyhawk Invitational is scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 a.m., weather permitting. Mississippi Valley State will face the host team, the University of Tennessee at Martin.
