Mississippi Valley State Baseball Falls to Southeastern Baptist 15-10
Mississippi Valley State’s baseball team suffered a 15-10 home loss to Southeastern Baptist College on Tuesday, ending a brief winning streak, according to the school’s athletic department.
The game featured a combined 25 runs and multiple extra-base hits. Jace Jones led the Diamond Devils with a season-high five RBIs, including a three-run homer and a two-RBI single. Jones also scored twice and drew a walk, according to the team’s recap.
Tom Early went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Johnny Escobalez Jr. and Jaxon Haynes each recorded a triple and a double, respectively. Eric Williams contributed two singles and drove in one run. Isreal Ramos was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. On the mound, James Snipes pitched a scoreless fifth inning with one hit allowed, no walks and a strikeout, the team said.
The Chargers took an early lead with a four-run first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Jace Jones. Southeastern Baptist extended its advantage with a home run from TJ Gordon in the second inning. The Devils attempted a comeback with a seven-run sixth inning but ultimately fell short.
