Mississippi Valley State Baseball Falls to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in SWAC Opener
Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Mississippi Valley State 10-3 in the SWAC baseball opener Friday at Torii Hunter Baseball Complex in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The Delta Devils fell to 4-12 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Golden Lions improved to 6-12 and 1-0 in SWAC action.
The series, which dates back to 2012, now stands 6-4-1 in favor of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Golden Lions have won their first game of the season series for the third consecutive year. Mississippi Valley State’s last win in the matchup occurred on March 10, 2024.
Chris Soeder led the Delta Devils offensively with his first home run of 2026, a two-run shot that cleared the fence and brought home Tom Early, who had previously walked. Brock Lenhardt and Matthew Cuzco each pitched perfect innings for Mississippi Valley State. Tanner Aoki went 1-for-2 with two walks and scored the team’s first run on a passed ball. Jaxon Haynes and Stephen Landaz each had singles, and Kendall Brookins drew a walk.
