Mississippi Valley State Athletics Prepares for Busy Week of Postseason and Conference Action

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University Athletics is gearing up for a busy week with postseason basketball, conference baseball and softball, and track and field competitions.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will open play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament at Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta on Monday. The women’s team faces Prairie View A&M at 4:30 p.m. CT, while the men’s team takes on Grambling State at 7:30 p.m. CT, in their respective tournament openers, according to the school.

On the baseball diamond, the Delta Devils will travel to New Orleans for a midweek game against the University of New Orleans before heading to Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a weekend conference series. Meanwhile, the softball team will compete in Tallahassee against Florida A&M for a series on Friday and Saturday, with the series starting Friday at 5 p.m. and continuing Saturday with games at noon and 2 p.m., respectively.

The men’s and women’s track and field teams will participate in the Sean Brady Opener hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, on Saturday. The meet offers another opportunity for Valley athletes to build momentum during the outdoor season, the school said.
