Mississippi State’s Roury McCloyen Wins Bronze at SEC Indoor Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mississippi State wrapped up the third day of the SEC Indoor Championships with a third-place finish in the shot put, highlighted by Roury McCloyen’s performance, according to the school’s athletics department.

McCloyen threw 20.11 meters (66 feet, 0.75 inches) in the fourth round, setting a new program record and personal best. The throw placed him fourth in the NCAA rankings and marked him as the first Bulldog to surpass 20 meters in program history, the school said.

In addition to McCloyen’s achievement, Nicholas Fakorede finished eighth in the 60-meter final, earning one point for the team. Manie Mevo made her first appearance in the SEC triple jump final, finishing seventh with a mark of 13.06 meters (42 feet, 10.75 inches).

Nelly Jemeli set a new program record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:16.38, closely followed by Milicent Kemboi, who finished in 9:19.19. Kemboi’s time is now the third-fastest in school history.

The meet concluded with relay races, with the women’s 4×400-meter team finishing eighth in 3:36.37. The squad, consisting of Jessicka Woods, Ife Adisa, Camryn Merryman, and De’Kayla Simpson, improved on the school’s second-best all-time mark set earlier this season. The men’s 4×400-meter relay team, featuring Sherman Hawkins Jr., Christion Barker, Keayari Lee, and Malachi Burton, finished seventh with a time of 3:06.07.
