Mississippi State’s Kinley Keller Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State softball’s Kinley Keller was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In her first week of action, Keller posted a .727 batting average (8-for-11) with four doubles across five games at The Snowman: Alex Wilcox Memorial. She also had a 1.667 on-base plus slugging percentage.
The New Braunfels, Texas, native recorded her first career hit Friday with a pinch-hit double against Murray State and made her first career start later that day against Rutgers. Keller led the team with seven runs scored this week, touching home five times over two games against North Texas.
On Sunday, Keller went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, contributing to five of Mississippi State’s 10 runs in that game. She is tied for the team lead with four doubles this season and boasts the longest active hitting streak.
For the year, Keller is batting .667 with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .692 on-base percentage. The 19th-ranked Bulldogs will host Memphis in a midweek game on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. CT before participating in the Bulldog Invitational from Feb. 20-22. All games will be streamed on SEC Network+.
