Mississippi State’s Jacob Parker Named SEC Freshman of the Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State’s Jacob Parker has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, marking back-to-back weekly honors for the Bulldogs.

The freshman outfielder started all four games during Mississippi State’s series of wins and posted a .545 batting average. He went 6-for-11 with eight runs scored, six walks, two stolen bases, one double, and one run driven in. Parker’s OPS for the week was 1.342, according to the school.

In 16 games this season, including 10 starts, Parker is batting .366 with three doubles, three home runs, and 13 RBIs, the school said. His recent conference award is the second for Mississippi State this season, after Tomas Valincius was named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week last Monday.

Parker, a Purvis native, is the first MSU player to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors since Nolan Stevens received the award on March 18, 2024. He is the 16th player from Mississippi State to earn the honor since 2007, with a total of 19 awards during that span, according to the school.

The No. 6 Bulldogs are scheduled to host 11th-ranked Southern Miss on Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the game airing on SEC Network+. Fans can follow the team on social media by searching “HailStateBB” on X, Facebook, and Instagram.

Mississippi State has been competitive in recent games, including a series victory over Vanderbilt last weekend, with highlights and postgame press conferences available online, the school added.
