Mississippi State Women’s Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader Against Louisiana Tech and Bellarmine

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State women’s tennis wrapped up a successful weekend with two victories at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. The Bulldogs defeated Louisiana Tech 6-1 and then swept Bellarmine 4-0.

In the first match against Louisiana Tech, MSU dropped the doubles point but responded strongly in singles, winning all six courts. Athina Pitta and Mia Robinson paired in doubles, while singles victories from Gianna Oboniye, Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz, Thessy Ntondele Zinga, Carolina Troiano, Chiara Di Genova, and Mia Robinson secured the win, according to the team.

Later in the day, the Bulldogs continued their winning streak against Bellarmine. MSU took the doubles point with wins from Athina Pitta / Mia Robinson and Emma Cohen / Thessy Ntondele Zinga. In singles, victories from Ntondele Zinga, Troiano, Di Genova, and Oliveras clinched the sweep under the lights, the team reported.

Mississippi State, under head coach Chris Hooshyar, remains undefeated in singles this season among its freshman class and continues its non-conference winning streak to 18 matches. The team now holds a 23-5 record in doubleheaders this season.

The Bulldogs will travel to Georgia Tech on Feb. 14 for their first away match of the season, the team announced.
