Mississippi State Women’s Tennis earns first road victory with 6-1 win over Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Mississippi State women’s tennis secured its first road victory of the season Tuesday, beating Furman University 6-1. The Bulldogs started the week with a win before traveling to Atlanta for their next match.

MSU took the doubles point with wins from Emma Cohen and Thessy Ntondele Zinga, as well as Athia Pitta and Mia Robinson. The team kept its momentum in singles, claiming five courts. Gianna Oboniye and Noemie Oliveras won their matches in tiebreakers, while Carolina Troiano defeated Furman’s Macy Hitchcock 6-1, 6-1.

Freshmen Ntondele Zinga and Robinson each earned victories, remaining undefeated this season. The Bulldogs are 27–3 in non-conference play under head coach Chris Hooshyar. The team has now won 18 consecutive non-conference matches.

Mississippi State will face Georgia Tech on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Atlanta. The upcoming match continues the Bulldogs’ non-conference schedule, which has been successful so far this season.

Match results show MSU’s doubles team of Cohen and Ntondele Zinga defeated Furman’s Bianca Ceroni and Elle Warren 6-3. In singles, Oboniye, Ntondele Zinga, Troiano, Robinson, and Oliveras all secured wins. The Bulldogs’ next match is against Georgia Tech on Feb. 14.
