Mississippi State Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Charles Schwab Invitational
Fort Worth, Texas — Mississippi State women’s golf concluded its regular season Sunday at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational with a ninth-place finish, finishing 35-over par. The Bulldogs played at the Texas course, with Stanford leading the field at 8-over par, according to the tournament leaderboard.
Avery Weed was the top individual for Mississippi State, tying for 12th place after shooting an even-par round in the final day. Her round marked her 48th career round of par or better, tying her for the fourth-most in Bulldog history. Weed was one of 15 players in the 75-player field to finish par or better in the third round. She has now finished inside the top 20 in 17 of her 28 career tournaments, with 16 inside the top 15.
The 12th-ranked Bulldogs will begin postseason play in three weeks at the Southeastern Conference Championship, scheduled for April 16-21 at The Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The tournament will conclude with a champion crowned on April 21.
Other notable performances included Ines Belchior, who tied for 32nd, and Samantha Whateley, who finished tied for 42nd. The team shot rounds of 291, 291, and 293, ending the tournament at 35-over par overall.
