Mississippi State Track & Field Concludes First Two Days at Alumni Bulldog Relays

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State track and field finished the first two days of the Alumni Bulldog Relays, held at the Mike Sanders Track Complex. The meet opened with the women’s hammer throw, where Marie Rougetet led the Bulldogs with a throw of 67.29 meters in the fifth round. Her mark was nearly 10 meters ahead of the field and just shy of her personal best program record, according to school officials.

The men’s hammer concluded the day’s events, with Juha Narhi winning with a throw of 64.55 meters in the third round. Narhi’s effort set a new program record, breaking a nearly 33-year-old mark. Caleb Kaplan also posted a personal best of 60.60 meters, ranking third in program history. Thomas Matlock made his collegiate debut in the event.

Competition continued Friday with Kevin Grubbs launching a 55.44-meter throw in the discus, marking the third farthest in program history in his outdoor debut. Alla Parnov cleared 3.90 meters in the pole vault, earning the fourth-highest jump in school history.

The women’s 4×800-meter relay team, composed of Trinity Holland, Hunter Anderson, Milicent Kemboi, and Gabrielle Boulay, won in 9:01.08, leading by 17 seconds. Sherman Hawkins claimed the men’s 200-meter dash in a personal-best 20.76 seconds. Nicholas Fakorede and Cooper Rodgers also set personal bests in the event, finishing close behind Hawkins.

The day wrapped up with Marquise Washington winning the men’s long jump with an outdoor personal best of 7.28 meters. The meet continues Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s javelin. Events will also include alumni recognition and the ‘Fastest Kid Around’ race. Admission is free.
