Mississippi State Track and Field Set for Crimson Tide Invitational

Mississippi State’s track and field team will compete at the Crimson Tide Invitational hosted by Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Friday. The Bulldogs will send a select group of 21 athletes to participate in 18 events during the one-day meet, which features competitors from 18 schools, according to an athletics department release.

The meet is expected to focus heavily on field events. Mississippi State will have athletes in the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and pole vault. Kevin Grubbs aims to improve on his top-15 NCAA mark in the men’s discus, while Roury McCloyen will make his season debut in both the shot put and discus after finishing as an All-American earlier this season at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

On the track, the Bulldogs will compete in hurdles, sprints, and short-distance races. Tamiia Fuller, the program record holder in the 60-meter dash, will make her outdoor individual debut after participating in relay events earlier this season. The meet marks an important step for the team as they continue their outdoor season.
