Mississippi State to Host Georgia in Regular Season Finale Saturday
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State men’s basketball will host Georgia on Saturday at Humphrey Coliseum, aiming to finish the regular season on a positive note. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Central Time, with tickets starting at $20.
The Bulldogs (13-17, 5-12 SEC) will honor seniors Achor Achor, Quincy Ballard, Jayden Epps, Shawn Jones Jr., Ja’Borri McGhee, and Brandon Walker before the game. State is led by Epps and Josh Hubbard, who have combined for 35.1 points per game — the top scoring duo in program history since the early 1980s.
Georgia (21-9, 9-8 SEC) enters the game having won four of its last five outings, including a 98-88 victory over No. 16 Alabama on Tuesday. The Bulldogs feature four players averaging double figures, led by Jeremiah Wilkinson with 17.4 points per game and Blue Cain, who averages 13.6 points and 5.1 rebounds.
Mississippi State has secured its third consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, a feat achieved three times in program history, most recently from 2001 to 2005. The Bulldogs are one of seven SEC teams with an active streak of at least three NCAA Tournament appearances. Humphrey Coliseum has seen record-setting attendance during the Chris Jans era, which has included three 20-win seasons and a 76-101 overall record in his four years at State.
The series favors Mississippi State, which has won seven of the last eight matchups since 2017-18. The Bulldogs have also won the last four games played in Starkville, all by double digits. Last season, State edged Georgia 76-75 in Athens, with Josh Hubbard scoring 16 points and dishing six assists.
The game will be broadcast on SEC Network and available via the ESPN app, with radio coverage on the Mississippi State Sports Network. Dave Neal and Jon Sundvold will call the action. Live stats can be accessed through the provided link.
