Mississippi State softball to open six-game homestand with doubleheader against Southeast Missouri

Mississippi State’s softball team will host Southeast Missouri in a doubleheader Tuesday at Nusz Park, marking the start of a six-game homestand. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 12/17, have posted a 10-1 record over their last 11 games on the road and at neutral sites, according to team sources.

The twin bills are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time, with tickets starting at $5. Fans can follow the games via live stats or watch them online, as coverage details are provided by the team.

MSU enters the week with its highest rankings ever in two of four polls and boasts the highest RPI in program history at No. 9, according to the NCAA’s first release on Monday. The Bulldogs aim to improve their winning percentage before opening SEC play against top-ranked Tennessee over the weekend.

Southeast Missouri, with a 4-13 record, has faced scheduling disruptions, including a canceled opening series and a series moved to neutral sites due to weather. The Redhawks have yet to play a home game this season. They recently completed a doubleheader at Western Illinois, after their home series was washed out.

Mississippi State leads the nation in strikeouts, with Alyssa Faircloth contributing significantly. She has four games with double-digit strikeouts this season and ranks second nationally in strikeouts per seven innings. Kiarra Sells has been a key offensive player, with multiple extra-base hits over the past two weeks. The Bulldogs are on pace to set school records for batting average, slugging percentage, and home runs.

Following Tuesday’s games, MSU will host No. 1 Tennessee for the SEC opener from March 13 to 15. All three games will be televised on SEC Network+.
