Mississippi State Produces 40 Professional Baseball Players in 2026 Season
Mississippi State University has a long history of developing professional baseball talent. In 2026, 40 alumni are active in the sport across Major League Baseball, Triple-A, Double-A, and Single-A levels, according to a release from the school’s athletics department.
Among the MLB players are seven who have appeared in the All-Star game or won World Series titles. Notable names include Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg and Brandon Woodruff. The Bulldogs have also had 20 first-round draft picks over the years, including Rooker, Westburg, Justin Foscue, Will Bednar, Landon Sims and Jurrangelo Cijntje.
Frazier is with the Los Angeles Angels, having made the opening day roster after signing a minor league deal in February. Rooker, now with the Oakland Athletics, hit a go-ahead RBI single on March 28. Lowe, with the Cincinnati Reds, collected an RBI double April 1. Westburg, currently on the injured list with a UCL sprain, was drafted in 2020 and is with the Baltimore Orioles.
Other alumni include Brandon Woodruff of the Milwaukee Brewers, who won his season opener with five innings, and Justin Foscue of the Texas Rangers, who has hits in all seven games this season. Several players are competing in Triple-A, Double-A, and Single-A levels, with varying degrees of success and injuries, including Konnor Pilkington and Landon Sims, who were non-roster invitees to spring training.
Mississippi State’s baseball program continues to produce talent at all levels of professional baseball, with updates on these players’ performances available on HailState.com throughout the season.
