STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State pitcher Tomas Valincius was named a Midseason All-American by D1Baseball, adding to his accolades after being selected by Perfect Game on Wednesday. The sophomore left-hander is also on the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, awarded annually to the top amateur baseball player in the United States, D1Baseball reported.
In seven starts this season, Valincius has compiled a 6-0 record with a 0.91 earned run average. He has struck out 56 batters and walked 11 over 39 2/3 innings. Opponents are batting just .173 against him.
In SEC play, Valincius is 3-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA. He has recorded 30 strikeouts and five walks across 19 innings, holding hitters to a .109 batting average, according to the school.
