Mississippi State Men’s Golf Opens at Maridoe Collegiate in Texas

Carrollton, Texas — The Mississippi State men’s golf team begins play Thursday at the Maridoe Collegiate, hosted by North Texas, at the Maridoe Golf Club. The course measures 7,569 yards and is set as a par 72.

The Bulldogs are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Schenkel Invitational earlier this month. They have recorded three top-five finishes this season, according to team sources.

Senior Garrett Endicott of San Antonio leads the team. He recently finished fifth at the Schenkel Invitational, shooting consecutive rounds of 5-under 67 and finishing 9-under 207 overall. Endicott received SEC Golfer of the Week honors for his performance. He has three top-10 finishes and five in the top 20 this season, with a team-high 13 rounds of par or better and a scoring average of 70.65.

Graduate Dain Richie of New Berlin, Illinois, returns to the lineup this week. He tied for 45th at the Watersound Invitational with an even-par 70 and helped lead the Bulldogs to a team victory at the Cullan Brown Collegiate in October, finishing fourth with rounds of 4-under 67 and even-par 71.

Freshman Jackson Skinner from Birmingham, Alabama, holds the third spot. He finished 33rd at the Schenkel Invitational, opening with a 72 and a 7-under 65. Skinner’s best start this spring was a sixth-place finish at the Maroon and White Invite, where he shot a 6-under 64 in the first round, making him the fourth freshman in program history to shoot 64 or better in a round.

Senior Ugo Malcor from La Baule, France, is in the fourth spot. He has been a consistent performer this season, with five top-20 finishes and two top-10s. Malcor placed 17th at the Schenkel Invitational after opening with consecutive 70s.

Freshman Bryson Hughes of Saint John’s, Florida, makes his first start in the team lineup after three individual appearances. He had his best collegiate performance at the Schenkel, finishing tied for seventh and earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Hughes was the only Bulldog to shoot under par in all three rounds of the tournament.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to tee off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on SCOREBOARD. Fans can follow the team on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram by searching ‘HailStateMG.’
