Mississippi State Hosts Vanderbilt for SEC Baseball Series at Dudy Noble

Mississippi State will host Vanderbilt in a three-game SEC series starting Friday at 7 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field, marking the first league matchup of the Brian O’Connor coaching era. The series continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., with the final two games streamed on SEC Network+.

The Bulldogs have won 15 straight games at Dudy Noble Field dating back to last season and are 20-1 at home since April 20, 2025. They are undefeated this spring at home with a 13-0 record. MSU has also defeated Jackson State 17-1 in a game Tuesday.

Mississippi State will send three starting pitchers this weekend. Ryan McPherson, a junior right-hander, will open the series. He is 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA, 36 strikeouts, and five walks in 29 innings. The Bulldogs will also start Tomas Valincius, a southpaw with a 4-0 record and 1.30 ERA, on Saturday. On Sunday, Duke Stone will get the ball for MSU, while Vanderbilt has yet to announce its starters.

Vanderbilt enters the series with a 13-9 overall record, including a series win over then-No. 13 LSU last weekend. The Commodores are ranked second nationally with 52 home runs and are batting .308 as a team. Brodie Johnston leads Vandy with a .393 batting average, while Braden Holcomb has 11 home runs and 33 RBIs.

Mississippi State ranks in the top 15 nationally in several offensive categories, including batting average, runs scored, and hits. The team has hit 30 home runs this season and has a collective ERA of 3.69. Bryce Chance leads the Bulldogs with a .431 batting average and has seven stolen bases. Ace Reese has 30 hits, 11 doubles, six homers, and 31 RBIs. The Bulldogs aim to extend their winning streak at home and improve their SEC record.
