Mississippi State Hosts No. 8 Arkansas for All For Alex Weekend Series

Mississippi State is set to host No. 8 Arkansas at Nusz Park this weekend in a series that coincides with All For Alex and Alumni Weekend events, according to school officials. The series marks the Bulldogs’ third against a top-10 team this season and second at home.

The Bulldogs, ranked 13th nationally, are coming off a narrow series loss at No. 5 Florida, decided on a replay review on the final play. All SEC teams will wear teal uniforms or accents Saturday to honor Alex Wilcox, a former Bulldog student-athlete who died of ovarian cancer. Fans attending Saturday’s game can receive free teal Wilcox jersey T-shirts and loaded teas. Replica teal jerseys will also be available for purchase all weekend.

Saturday will feature pregame alumni recognition, while Sunday is the annual Bark in the Park day, allowing fans to bring well-behaved dogs (excluding service animals) to Nusz Park. Dog owners must sign a waiver, and Section 101 will remain pet-free. Fans can also pick up free dog tags upon entry.

Game times are scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday, with coverage available on SEC Network+ and radio. Tickets are available from $5 to $10.

In recent performances, Mississippi State’s offense showed strength with a season-high 14 hits and nine runs in a game against Florida. Kiarra Sells has been consistent at the top of the order, batting .474 over the last seven games. Nadia Barbary continues to climb MSU’s career charts, with 43 extra-base hits and nine home runs this season. The team leads the nation with 379 strikeouts and has the SEC’s fewest walks allowed.

On the mound, Alyssa Faircloth set a school record with 100 strikeouts in just 55.2 innings, now totaling 178, ranking fifth nationally. The Bulldogs have also been effective late in games, scoring the majority of their runs in the fifth inning or later. Defensive efforts include 11 runners thrown out at the plate, mainly when leading or tied by one run.

Arkansas, with a 33-5 overall record and 8-4 in SEC play, enters the series after sweeping Auburn and not allowing an earned run in three games—a first for the program since 2000. The Razorbacks are led by head coach Courtney Deifel and feature offensive standouts like freshman Brinli Bain, batting .412 with three homers and 13 doubles. Arkansas’s pitching staff has a 2.38 ERA, and Reagan Johnson holds the program’s career hits record.

This series is a prelude to the Bulldogs’ road trip to No. 14 Texas A&M next weekend, with games broadcast on SEC Network and SEC Network+.
