Mississippi College’s Nia Coleman Named All-GSC in Women’s Basketball

CLINTON, Miss. — Nia Coleman of Mississippi College has been named to the All-Gulf South Conference team, the school announced. She is the second consecutive Choctaw player to earn the honor, following Tiara Abron last season.

During the season, Coleman started 19 of 26 games and averaged 28.7 minutes per contest. She led the team with 13.2 points per game, totaling 342 points on 43.2 percent shooting from the field. The junior guard was a consistent perimeter threat, knocking down 27 three-pointers at a 35.5 percent clip and converting 73 of 99 free throws for a 73.7 percent accuracy rate.

Coleman also contributed on the boards, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game for a total of 133, including 42 offensive rebounds. She added 54 assists, 36 steals, and six blocks, demonstrating her versatility on both ends of the floor.

In school history, the last time Mississippi College had an all-conference honoree before Coleman was Kim Davis in 1995. The last player to receive All-GSC honors was Alexus Stirgus, a third-team All-American in 2014 for the Southwest Conference. The team finished the season with a 9-18 record overall and an 8-14 mark in conference play.
