Mississippi College Women’s Golf Wins Hal Sutton Invitational
BOSSIER CITY, La. — Mississippi College women’s golf team won the Hal Sutton Invitational with a total score of 614. The team’s performance was highlighted by Sydney Moss and Sofia Mendez, who finished first and second individually.
Moss posted a total of 149 (+5), shooting 76 (+4) in the first round and improving to 73 (+1) in the second. Mendez finished with a 150 (+6), after a first-round 79 (+7) and a second-round 71 (-1). Their efforts helped the Blue and Gold finish more than 70 strokes ahead of Jacksonville College, which finished second.
Ashlynd Madden contributed to the team’s success, finishing fourth with a total of 156 (+12). She improved from an 82 (+10) in the first round to a 74 (+2) in the second. Callie Mobley, competing as an individual, finished third overall with a 154 (+10).
Rilee Hilliker showed resilience by significantly improving her second-round score, posting a 79 (+7) after an initial 97 (+25). The Choctaws are scheduled to compete next on March 31 in Columbus, Georgia, at the Lady Cougar Classic hosted by Columbus State.
