Mississippi College Women’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Emerald Coast Collegiate
DESTIN, Fla. — Mississippi College’s women’s golf team finished sixth at the Emerald Coast Collegiate at Sandestin Resort, finishing with a 54-hole total of 891. The Choctaws posted their best round in the second day with a 289, helping secure a top-six finish in a field that included several nationally ranked programs, according to team sources.
Sydney Moss led the team with a strong individual performance, tying for second overall at even-par 213. She shot rounds of 70, 70 and 73, finishing one stroke behind medalist Lucy Kate Smith of the University of Texas at Tyler, who posted a 212.
Ashlynd Madden contributed a top-25 finish, tying for 23rd at 221 (+8) after rounds of 71, 72 and 78. Allie Myers tied for 29th at 225 (+12), with scores of 75, 73 and 77. Sofia Mendez finished 55th with a 232 (+19), and Ana Quintanilla Gutierrez rounded out the lineup with a 249 (+36).
UT Tyler claimed the team title, followed by St. Mary’s (Texas) (870), Flagler (879), West Florida (886) and Washburn (890). Mississippi College finished just one stroke behind Washburn and one ahead of West Texas A&M, which scored 892.
The team returns to competition March 16 at the Hal Sutton Invitational in Bossier City, Louisiana, according to team officials.
