Mississippi College Women’s Basketball Season Ends with Loss at Delta State

Delta State defeated Mississippi College 56-45 Friday night in Cleveland, Mississippi, closing out the Lady Choctaws’ 2025-26 season. MC finished with a 9-18 record overall and went 8-14 in Gulf South Conference play, according to the school.

Valencia McFall led Mississippi College with 22 points, including six three-pointers. It was her fourth game this season with 20 or more points. Vivian Sketoe added eight points, making two three-pointers, and recorded one steal. The Choctaws relied on effective three-point shooting in the first quarter, hitting four of seven attempts to stay competitive.

Delta State took control in the second quarter, forcing seven turnovers and limiting MC to two field goals in 11 attempts. The Lady Statesmen outscored the Choctaws 14-5 in that period and took a 36-25 lead into halftime. Delta State’s perfect six-for-six free-throw shooting contributed to their advantage.

In the third quarter, Mississippi College increased defensive pressure and outscored Delta State by two points. The Choctaws forced five turnovers and added four second-chance points off offensive rebounds, trimming the deficit to 47-38 entering the final period. However, turnovers continued to hinder MC’s comeback efforts in the fourth quarter.

Despite hitting two three-pointers in the final quarter, the Choctaws committed five turnovers. Delta State sealed the win by converting five of six free throws down the stretch. Jariyah Williamson led DSU with 21 points, including five three-pointers and a perfect four-for-four free-throw performance. Dakiya Toney contributed eight rebounds, with three on the offensive end, and added eight points.

The game marked the final collegiate appearance for Karly Ivy, Keller Bigham, Mariam Olawoyin, Valencia McFall, and Marian Jenkins.
